Support so far
Despite the fact that our proposals for the Bridge Centre are still at an early stage, we have already received overwhelming support in favour of the project from the Torridge and North Devon community.
As things stand, Wings have received over 350 supporter postcards and signatures backing the scheme. Our online poll (see right) currently boasts a 99% ‘YES’ response of approval.
Furthermore, Wings already has a quarter of the building costs ring-fenced by a leading national charity, who stated that the proposal ‘is one of the most important learning and regenerational projects seen in 25 years of grant making’.
Amazingly, as well as the original support of local architects RGP, the Bridge Centre idea is benefitting from the generosity of a number of international companies (MAKE, DP9, Arup, M3 Consulting, Pinsent Masons) who have been involved in designing and planning some of the most iconic buildings including the London Olympics Handball Centre, the Sydney Opera House, One Hyde Park and the ’Shard’ in London. We are grateful to them all and to Geoffrey Cox MP and many of our town, district and county councillors for their input, enthusiasm and support.
